• Latest Lego Builds

Lego Creator Train – I followed the instructions and built this train all by myself.

Underwater World – this was my very own creation:

  • Rockstar Curtains

Today, I’ve helped prepare the curtains for Rockstar, the campervan we are making. I removed all the curtain hooks, and put them in the washing machine so they are all clean and fresh ready for hanging in Rockstar.

  • Bonfire

I’ve been helping clear parts of the garden and tonight we had a big bonfire to get rid of all the garden waste.

    Learning Opportunities:

    • We talked about how material burns and turns to ash.
    • We watched the little bits of ash float up to the sky and then cool and fall back down.
    • We observed different colours in different parts of the fire.
    • I noticed that some things burn quicker than others, and some material (like metal) don’t seem to burn at all.
    • We listened to the crackling sounds and popping noises things make as they burn

  • MOT Time

Today daddy and I took our car for it’s MOT. I learnt that an MOT is a yearly inspection that all vehicles have to pass to be allowed to drive on the roads.

MOTs can only be done by approved MOT Testers. Other people that work in the garage are called mechanics, and their job is to service vehicles to ensure they are safe and well maintained. When vehicles go wrong mechanics fix them.

I watched the car go up on the ramps and I could see all the underneath of the car. Daddy explained what lots of the parts were and what they do.

  • Tadpoles

My friend came over to play today, she is home educated like me. We spent lots of time making up games and playing but we also walked down to the pond to see the tadpoles.

We keep a big glass jar by the pond so we can have a closer look at all the pondlife.

  • Volcano – part 3

Today we completed the volcano project but it was disappointing.

I added the bicarbonate of soda and vinegar but all we saw was a bit of fizzing and bubbling. I wanted a big explosion.

  • Lego Creation

I love lego and I love trains. Here I am with a lego train that I built all by myself from my imagination. It was accepted into the Lego Cool Creations webspace and may even get printed in the next quarterly magazine.

  • Three Times Table

I have perfected my three times tables. I know all twelve by heart.

  • Weekend in Cardiff

We went camping, sort of. We actually stayed in a Travelodge as our camper doesn’t have beds yet.

First we visited Romilly Park and downloaded the Tree Trail AR app. We had to find different trees dotted around the park. Each time we found a tree with the AR sign, we scanned the code and Cyril the Squirrel appeared and told us interesting facts about each tree.

Next, we cycled down to Barry Island and shared some chips on the beach before cycling back to the camper. Mummy prepared cheese toasties while Daddy and I played football in the park.

The next day we visited Porthkerry Country Park. There was a huge bridge which I learnt was actually a viaduct. I saw the train go over the viaduct lots of times. Mummy had bought some decorate your own gingerbread men so I had fun doing that during our picnic.

We walked down to the stoney beach and made a tower of pebbles (known as stone stacking). When we got home my Aunty sent me this link which explains all about stone stacking, and why people do it.

We noticed loads of little tiny snails stuck to the pebbles by the waters edge. We learnt they are common periwinkles. We also found a limpet stuck on a pebble.

We stopped and looked in the river on the way to the beach and saw swimming beetles, small fish (probably minnows). After our picnic, I made some new friends in the playground. Finally we ended the day with a walk through the woods where we found a tyre swing.
