  • Two Times Table Practice

    I’m currently learning my 2 and 3 times tables.

    I’ve nearly learnt them all. Today I was praticing writing the two times table on my white board.

  • Garden Maintenance

    This week I’ve been helping out with jobs around the garden.

    • pruning back shrubs
    • clearing away the mess
    • having a bonfire
    • collecting logs from our woods

  • Recent Arts & Crafts

    I usually do some sort of art or crafting every day. Here’s some of the recent things I’ve made:

    • a sparkly wand
    • an underwater scene with night stars
    • a pretty pattern made by stamping ink pads
    • a parrot with movable wings and tail

  • Atlantis Swim Session

    I love swimming and today mummy and I went to the pool in Johnstown to try out the Atlantis Inflatable session.

    I LOVED it. I only fell off once and that was when I was racing mummy.

  • Birthday Bashes

    It seems to be birthday season. I had two different birthday parties on the same day. Sadly I ate too much cake and was sick in the evening.

  • Crazy for coconuts

    Whilst out food shopping with mummy, I spotted a strange looking hard hairy football. It turns out it wasn’t a hairy football, but was actually something called a coconut.

    Things learnt:

    • Coconuts have 3 eyes and this is the best place to pierce them to extract the coconut milk.
    • Coconut milk is yucky
    • The shells are really hard and I had to whack the coconut lots of times with the mallet to break the shell.
    • A mallet is similar to a hammer
    • The coconut flesh is also hard and the outer layer needs to be peeled before you can grate it
    • Grated coconut makes macaroons and I don’t like them either.
    • Coconuts grow on coconut palm trees in hot places like India, Indonesia, Philipines and Brazil.

  • Seedlings Appear

    I’ve been watering my seeds every day, and now they have germinated. That’s a big word for ‘started to grow’.

    The seedlings grow towards the window, so I turn the trays around every day. Hopefully this will help them grow straight.

    I planted the seeds on the 8th March, so they took just over a week to germinate.

  • Cooking

    This week, in the kitchen I’ve been:

    • peeling carrots
    • grating cheese
    • buttering bread
    • making banana smoothies
    • making ice cream

  • Sheep Surveillance

    There are lambs in the field next to our house. The farmer was happy for me to go in the field to see them, they are very cute.

    Learning Opportunities:

    • Female sheep are called ewes
    • Male sheep are called rams
    • The lambs squeeze milk from their mums udders
    • When lambs are happy they run and jump and play just like children.
    • A shepherd is someone who looks after sheep for a living.
    • Sheeps outer layer is wool. Wool is made into yarn and yarn can be made into all sorts like jumpers.
    • A group of sheep is called a flock.

  • Bumblebee Rescue

    Whilst helping daddy work on Rockstar, I spotted a poorly looking bumblebee in the middle of the workshop floor.

    We carefully moved it into a jar, it was moving it’s legs very slowly. I was able to have a really good look at it before we released it on some flowering heather. Early flowering heather is really important for wildlife as there’s not much bee food (nectar) around in winter or early spring.

    We discovered online that Queen Bumblebees hibernate. I learnt about hibernating very recently when I found a butterfly in my bedroom. I didn’t know there were different types of bee, there is around 270 different types of bee in the UK.
