We took our campervans to France for a week.
We visited:
The rest of the holiday was touring around and visiting a family friend and musician who lives in France. We spents two nights camping at his converted barn.
We saw lots of wildlife including hornets, lizards, fish, damselflies, ragondins, birds of prey, a kingfisher and other unusual insects.

I also learnt lots about different plants. We saw many fields growing corn on the cob. We saw fig trees, mistletoe and endless rows of grapevines, which I know are used to make wine. The Loire Valley is a famous place for growing wine.

At one stop, near Saumur, we were paddling in a river and watching damselflies lay their eggs, when someone told us that a boat parade was coming down river. Shortly after around 30 traditional flat-bottomed Loire barges, called Gabares, came past. Everyone waved.

Learning Opportunities:
- Practicing my French, I can:
- count to 10
- say please and thank you
- hello and goodbye
- my name is Abi.
- I learnt some new French words:
- regarde means look
- sortie means exit
- sirène means mermaid
- eau is water
- chocolat chaud is hot chocolate
- Ferry trip from Newhaven to Dieppe. On the ferry we kept our eyes open for dolphins and whales but didn’t see any. There was a big board on the outside deck telling us what sea creatures we could see.
- Sampling French food, like croissants, pastries, macarons and French bread. The french really like their bread, you can buy bagettes from vending machines in car parks. We also saw some vending machines which sold pizza!
- In France all the cars drive on the other side of the road, just like in Spain.
- I had a piano and guitar lesson from our friend
- Life on the road skills; finding water, collecting sticks for fires, finding safe and legal places to park.
