Kinderdijk is a UNESCO heritage site with 19 traditional windmills. The Netherlands are famous for windmills. They have four sails and they are actually houses or working mills. By comparison modern wind turbines are much larger, only have three blades and no one lives in them. Wind turbines produce electricity whereas Windmills are mills that can produce all sorts of different things.

Later in our holiday we visited Zaanse Schan Windmills and went inside a windmill that is actually a working wood saw mill.
