Ireland is one of the largest producers of butter in the whole world! Butter is made from milk, which comes from cows. The butter from Ireland is very popular as the cows are fed on grass. Due to the wet climate the grass grows very well.
I was given a quiz to do throughout the museum, I had to identify different churns (the machines, usually made of wood) that churn the milk into butter, I also had to work out missing words in sentences about how butter is produced.
There was a table for children to use ink pads and butter stamps. We also watched a video about the history of butter making in Ireland. Traditionally, it was the women who made the butter, not the men.
