The weather has been amazing this year and that means we have so many blackberries. We’ve been picking them and freezing them.
I made a blackberry crumble by hand.

This weekend is the Llandysul Paddlers River Festival. I set a time of 275 seconds on the slalom course.

Our family of Canada Geese will soon be leaving us. their three goslings have all survived and are almost as big as the adults. They still make their cute baby chirp noises and they still have a few down feathers here and there on their heads.
I will miss the geese when they go, but look forward to them returning next spring for another season with us.

I’ve been working through a nature book which I am really enjoying. It’s a mix of things to read and things to find and tick off like a treasure hunt.
Today I learn the differences between frogs and toads, we have both in our pond.

We had a family day at Porthcawl. We started to explore on our bikes but were soon distracted by all the rockpools revealed by the low tide.
We even found one big enough to swim in, I could only just touch the bottom.
We saw creatures such as:
We saw seaweeds including:

Mummy and I had a day visiting Birdland.
Our favourite birds were the penguins, they had Humboldt Penguins (which we’ve seen lots of times) and King Penguins. These are very similar to Emperor Penguins and there are only two zoos in the whole of the UK that have them.

There were lots of Flamingo species, and for the first time we saw some babies. They were grey and fluffy like cygnets but with the long flamingo legs and distinctive shape.
We were able to stroke the tortoises, some were huge and others were small. One girl got bite by one whilst we were there, so I was very careful.
They also had some Pythons, which I find really cool.
We walked around the Jurassic Journey and I could name most of the dinosaurs we saw. We noticed how birds like Emu’s still have the same 3 toes, (theropods) which have evolved from dinosaurs.
We had a wander around the miniature village which is an exact replica of Bourton-on-the-Water and even features a miniature village too!

When I was little I loved watching Brum on the telly. I was really excited to visit the Cotswold Motor Museum as that is where some of the TV series was filmed. There is lots of Brum memorabilia there including Brum himself.
The museum is really big and there is not a spare inch of space on any of the walls or ceilings, it’s cramming full of motoring things.
I liked the cool lights in the 1960’s garage and the music sounded really happy too.

On our way to the Forest Of Dean we decided to stop and have a walk to see the waterfalls in Pontneddfechan. We didn’t actually get to see the waterfalls as we decided to paddle in the cool stream instead. Mummy said she had never seen the water level as low as it was, we are having a really good summer with lots of heat waves.
We liked how natural this setting is, there are no visual signs of man, it’s all just nature and beautiful.
