Whilst we were in Aberystwyth we visited the Rheidol Hydro Power Visitor Center.

Learning Opportunities

• watching a video about how the reservoirs and dams were built
• looking at a model of a wind turbine
• learning about renewable energy
• playing with some of the interactive exhibits

Today daddy taught me some more things about electricity, we looked at 12v system specifically. That is the system cars use to power things like:

• horn
• wipers
• starter motor
• heater

I learnt about the positive (red) terminals and the negative (black) terminal on batteries.

Daddy demonstrated that if the two wires from the positive and negative terminals touch, then a spark is made and this can be dangerous a start a fire.

We rigged up a 12v system to power a toy train and signal box.
