Tankfest 2026

I went with mummy and daddy to Tankfest at the Tank Museum in Dorset.

There is also plenty of stalls and free activities. I was shown how to use a snipers rifle and I got to actually fire a hand gun.

We watched a demonstration on how the army clean the main gun on a tank. They use long rods, similar to how a window cleaner washes upstairs windows. I also had a free go on the climbing wall but I didn’t get very far up.

We wandered around the museum and I learnt about WW1, WW2 and war horses and their uses in the war.

We watched the big army display in the main area where they demonstrated lots of the vehicles they use. My favourite was Titan which makes a bridge. It is the highest value target in the army so it is always sent with armed backup and it has a smoke screen to hide it’s position. When they put the smoke screen on the entire arena filled with horrible smelling smoke and we couldn’t see the people in front of us.
