Baking biscuits

I made shortbread biscuits. Mummy read the recipe and I measured and mixed everything.

Ingredients:

  • 250g softened butter
  • 140g caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 300g plain flour

Method:

  • Mix the butter & sugar in a bowl with a wooden spoon.
  • Next add the egg yolk & vanilla essence. Mix together.
  • Soft over the flour (in 100g batches) mixing well after each addition.
  • Squash the dough together into a ball and leave in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Roll out dough and cut into shapes
  • Bake on tray lined with grease proof paper for 10-12 minutes.
  • Allow to cool on wire rack then decorate.

I used honey and sprinkles to decorate some of the biscuits as we didn’t have any icing pens.

I now have my own set of rubber gloves so I can wash up too.
