From fairy house to pi

Mummy said that today we had a great example of how following my interests can lead to all sorts of unexpected learning.

I love making fairy houses, and mummy and I looked on Pinterest to find a suitable project. We found one that used a toilet roll inner and some cardboard for a roof. We watched the tutorial video but it was a bit vague about how big we needed to cut the semi circle of cardboard, that was then folded into a pointy roof.

Mummy decided to ask ChatGPT for help. I learnt that ChatGPT is a free AI. AI means artifical intelligence and it’s a like a really clever robot that understands what we say (or type). We chatted about AI for a little while, it’s something that I am definitely going to have to learn about as it’s fast becoming part of everyday life.

As well as giving us the dimensions that we needed, the AI also explained the maths calculation that we can use. It used a thing called Pi. I’d never heard of this before, the only pie I had heard of was either apple or steak, both of which are yummy. My parents explained that I’m not ready for a lesson in pi just yet, but that it was a mathmatical formula that can be extremely useful when working out things to do with circles.
