During our stay in Alderney, the hotel had a planned fire drill. We were told what time it would be and then the sirens and alarms started blaring.

Things Learnt:

• remain calm
• do not run
• do not use the lift
• close all doors
• fire doors are very heavy to open, but they help keep the fire contained
• if you route is blocked by heavy smoke or fire, find another exit
• the fire exits are marked with green signs
