Cow Crossing

On the drive home from kayaking, we had to stop and wait whilst a framer brought his cows in for milking. Most cows are milked twice a day and this is usually done by a machine. In the old days people used to milk cows by hand. My grandad used to milk cows by hand when he was a boy. He lived on a farm in Ireland and sometimes his family would even make their own butter from the milk their cows produced.

The cows were all different colours and they looked really boney, but all had full udders ready to be milked.
