Tie Dye

I want to be a dress maker when I grow up. I love making clothes for my dolls. Today I did some tie dyeing.

We had some white t-shirts and used elastic bands to make different shapes in the t-shirts. Next we added water to the dies, and shock the bottles until the ink powder had dissolved.

Then I used the different colour bottles to squirt ink onto the fabrics. I used my fingers (wearing gloves) to rub the ink in. Then we had to leave the garments for 8 hours before washing off the remaining ink and putting the clothes through the washing machine.

We had quite a lot of die left so we used the bottles of ink to draw pictures on some old towels we had.

Sadly mummy washed the clothes on too high a setting and most of the ink washed off, but we’re going to have another go again soon.
