Kingston Lacey

Whilst in Dorset we visited the Kingston Lacey National Trust property.

I completed the kids activity pack which involved finding lots of items throughout the house. We learnt about tortoises as the people who used to live there kept tortoises and had lots of furniture custom made featuring tortoises.

The house was very grand, they even had a gold room! Most of the rooms had very large paintings on the walls and many even had paintings on the ceiling.

It was hot on the day we visited, so there were lots of fans running trying to keep the rooms cool. I discovered that when I talked into the fan it made my voice change. I made lots of people laugh by doing this.

There was an enormous garden filled with activites for kids, this was because we’re in school holidays at the moment.

There was a big wild flower meadow, we stopped for a while to look for bees and butterflies. We also found a cricket on the path. We picked it up on a leaf and moved it to somewhere safer.

Whilst walking around the gardens we spotted some bamboo. I impressed mummy as I already knew that bamboo comes from China and that Giant Pandas eat it. I learnt these things from watching the Thomas & Friends Big World Adventure series.
