Splitting Logs

Living on a small holding means that we produce our own firewood to help heat our house during winter.

Daddy uses his chainsaw to chop up fallen trees into logs. The next job is to use a splitter to make the logs a better size.

This week Daddy showed me how to split logs, it is really hard and a bit dangerous so I had to wear safety goggles to protect my eyes.

Mummy and I also collect buckets of kindling throughout the summer. These are the small twigs which are used to start the fire in the wood burner.
