Pylons of Power

This morning some men from the power company came to inspect the pylons in the fields opposite our house.

They climbed up the really tall pylons, I bet they have a really good view. They wear bright orange clothes so they are easy to spot, this helps keep the workmen safe. They also wear hard hats to protect their heads.

Electricity flows through the wires that these pylons hold, the power comes from somewhere called the National Grid and it is connected to nearly every home in the country.

We sometimes see the orange National Grid helicopters flying over checking the pylons from above.
