King Arthur’s Labyrinth

I had an amazing day today, on our way home from camping we visited King Arthur’s Labyrinth. It was amazing, you have to wear a hard hat and you walk into the caves where it is really cold.

Next you go on a boat ride, and it’s almost pitch black. I though we were going to get really wet under the waterfall but luckily the water stopped as the boat went under it.

The guided tour of the caves was 1.5 hours and I learn’t lots:

  • Excalibur was the magical sword of King Arthur.
  • The sword was stuck in a stone and no one was strong enough to pull it free. Whoever could pull the sword out of the rock would become King, and that is what Arthur did.
  • Legend has it, there were two dragons buried under the ground, one white, which represented the Saxons and one red, which represented the Britons.
  • The Saxons invaded Britain and controlled it for many years until King Arthur and his army defeated them.
  • This is why there is a red dragon on the Welsh flag as it is believe King Arthur originated from Wales, like me.
  • The dragon represents courage and strength.
