St Colmans’ Cathedral, Cobh

Whilst in Cobh we visited the St Colemans Cathedral. It is a Roman Catholic church that was completed in 1919. It stands behind West View Street, also known as the ‘Deck of Cards’ which is a line of very colourful houses on a very steep hill.

Roman Catholic is a Christian religion which was very popular in Ireland. The head of the church is called the Pope and he lives in Rome in Italy. One of my great Uncles was a Christian Brother and had the honor of meeting the pope St John Paul II.
