I heard a loud buzzing and it turned out to be a house fly caught in a spiders web. The fly was buzzing frantically trying to get free but the spider siezed it’s chance and started trying to wrap the fly in it’s web.

It was horrible to watch, I wanted to save the fly but mummy explained that the fly was already too covered in sticky web to be able to fly again.

The spider returned to it’s hiding hole and waited for the fly to tire, before returning for it’s breakfast.

I learnt that predators are animals that hunt other animals, and prey is the name given to the animals being hunted. The spider is the predator and the fly is the prey. Other examples I gave were a lion and an antelope, or a cat and a bird.
