Woollen Mill

I went to the National Woollen Mill in Drefach Felindre with my friend Madara.

Learning Opportunities:

  • paper weaving; we made paper sheep by weaving strips of paper
  • we tried carding which is the first step in preparing the sheeps wool. You push the wool onto metal teeth on a wooden paddle, then you pull the two paddles in opposite direction to smooth the wool
  • we watched a lady demonstrate several of the machines. She was weaving scarves that they sell in the shop.

The museum is currently undergoing some big changes and improvements so much of the museum was out of bounds during our visit.
