My friend Betsan came over today and we did an experiment with melting ice.

We took 3 ice cubes and timed how long each one took to melt.

• One was just left on a plate
• One was placed in a cup of cold water
• One was placed in a cup of hot water

I guessed that the ice would melt quickest in the cold water but I was wrong.

• The hot water ice cube melted in 30 seconds
• The cold water ice cube melted in 5 minutes
• The ice cube left on the plate took 10 minutes to melt
