Visiting Aberdyfi and Tywyn

Last weekend mummy and I took our camper up to North Wales and we visited Aberdyfi and Tywyn.

We hadn’t been here before, so we enjoyed exploring both towns. We had ice cream, played crazy golf and I made some new friends in the playground.

We spent some time on the beach, collecting shells and making pretty patterns in the sand. I learnt what breakwaters are.

There were lots and lots of enormous dead jellyfish that had washed up onto the beach. They were very squidgy. When we got home we googled jellyfish and learnt the following facts:

  • the collective noun for jellyfish is a bloom of jellyfish
  • the top part is called the bell or hood.
  • the long dangle legs are called tentacles, the same as an octopus
  • jellyfish do not have a brain or a heart.
  • we think the ones we saw are Barrel Jellyfish, these are the largest jellyfish we see in the UK.
